How to cancel Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online has grown much more impressive over the years, but it’s still not a perfect fit for everyone. If you’ve grown bored with the service — or no longer want to deal with the monthly fees — here’s how to cancel your Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

The task can be performed either on your console or through the Nintendo website. Whichever method you choose, it’ll only take a few minutes to cancel your membership.

How to cancel Nintendo Switch Online from your Switch console

If you’re already on your Switch, here’s the fastest way to cancel your NSO subscription.

Step 1: Head to the home screen.

Step 2: Enter the Nintendo eShop.

Step 3: Select your Profile from the top-right corner.

Step 4: Select Nintendo Switch Online from the menu.

Step 5: Click the big orange Terminate automatic renewal button.

Note: This will say "Membership Options" if you’re not signed up for automatic renewals. If this is the case, you’re all set – you’ll be able to use NSO until the end of your current payment cycle, at which point it will be canceled.

How to cancel Nintendo Switch Online using the official website

Canceling Nintendo Switch Online using the web is just as easy as canceling from your console. After navigating to Nintendo.com, here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Sign in and access your profile using the Log in button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Navigate to the Settings menu.

Step 3: Select Shop menu.

Step 4: Select Nintendo Switch Online.

Step 5: Select the Terminate automatic renewal option.

What's next?

Canceling your Nintendo Switch Online membership removes access to all its benefits. This includes access to online multiplayer, the NES and SNES catalogs, members-only discounts, and more. If you’re canceling because you no longer own a Switch, that’s not a big deal. But if you’re canceling because the benefits simply didn’t match up to the price tag, be sure to check the Nintendo website every few months -- the company is constantly upgrading the NSO service, and it could grow more appealing in the future.

How to get the Buster Sword
You can find the Buster Sword in multiple locationsduring each match by looking for bright red beams coming off the ground. When coming upon one of these red beams, you'll see the Buster Sword stuck in the ground, so just walk over and pick it up to add it to one of your weapon slots. Bear in mind that the Buster Sword can also be found in Neutral Care Packages or on the ground next to fallen players who had one, so the chances of you finding one in each match are relatively high.

Once you've equipped a Buster Sword, you'll be able to dish out some pretty impressive damage to foes if you can close the gap on them. The weapon's light attacks will deal 25 damage per hit, while heavy attacks output a whopping 60 damage, meaning just a few good swings from this bad boy can put someone down. You can also launch into the air and slam down on unsuspecting players below, or even use the sword to block incoming attacks by holding down the same button you use for aiming.

After you've started the epilogue storyline, simply proceed through the new main quest as directed. Near the end of the game, you will face off against one last trainer. Upon defeating them, you will be forced into a battle with Pecharunt. Don't be alarmed that you can't catch it during this fight! You're intended to fully KO Pecharunt in this encounter. Once it's HP is zero, you will be instructed to catch it with a Pokeball from Kieran. At this point, choose whichever ball you like and go for the catch. It's a guaranteed capture, so no need to worry about it breaking free.

As part of the ongoing wave of AI-related news at CES 2024, Altec Lansing revealed an artificial intelligence-powered successor to GameShark called AI Shark. More interestingly, the press release regarding this software claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in September 2024.

"Formerly known as GameShark, AI Shark is set to redefine the gaming landscape with its revolutionary AI-enhanced technology," Altec Lansing explains in a press release. "The innovative gaming software is set to mark a significant leap forward in the gaming experience, bringing enhanced gameplay for beginner-level users. The official launch is planned to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024."
